Recently, the main pier steel trestle of the main bridge of the Dalian Changhai Bridge project, constructed by CSCEC 6th Bureau (CSCEC Silk Road), was successfully closed and connected under severe cold conditions. This marks that the construction of the main bridge of the largest sea-crossing bridge in Northeast China has officially entered an accelerated phase.

The completed steel trestle has a total length of 400 meters and a width of 9 meters. As a key transportation corridor for the construction of the main navigable span piers of the bridge, it is supported by a single row of three steel pipe piles with a diameter of 820 mm. The upper part is erected with Bailey trusses combined with section steel, and the bridge deck is paved with anti-slip patterned steel plates. Featuring rigorous design and stable structure, it will provide safe and efficient support for material transportation and mechanical operation in the subsequent main structure construction.

It is reported that the Dalian Changhai Bridge has a total length of about 25.5 kilometers, including a sea-crossing section of about 19 kilometers and a land section of about 6.5 kilometers. The whole line is constructed according to Class I highway standards with a two-way four-lane design. It is the land-island highway project under construction with the largest investment scale in China, as well as the only land-island bridge project in China’s island border county.

Upon completion, the project will effectively break the bottleneck of land-island transportation and be of great significance for improving the layout of the national highway network and promoting coordinated economic and social development in the region.
